About the Author

John Henry Cardinal Newman (1801-1890) was an English writer and spiritual leader.  Originally an Anglican priest, he converted to Roman Catholicism between 1843 and 1845 and rose to become a Cardinal.  In 2010 he was beatified by Pope Benedict XVI.  He was also known for his writings, especially his autobiography, Apologia Pro Vita Sua (1865-66).
