The Apophenion

Overview

Apophenion attacks most of the great questions of being, free will, consciousness, meaning, the nature of mind, and humanity's place in the cosmos, from a magical perspective. Some of the conclusions seem to challenge many of the deeply held assumptions that our culture has taught us, so brace yourself for the paradigm crash and look for the jewels revealed in the wreckage. I Also Recommend:

    A thoroughly stimulating read.

"The Apophenion" by Carroll is one of those small books that pack a punch. While short it serves as an excellent introduction to "Chaos Magic" by providing the reader with a systematic breakdown of several of the innate assumptions or paradigms we live in within our world. I don't doubt that this work can provide those new to Magical theory and practice, especially "Chaos Magic", with that "Ah-HA!" experience. While somewhat limited in ritual content, which may disappoint the more seasonsed mystic, the book is quite fun to read. I highly recommend it!

    I Also Recommend:

    The Father of Chaos Returns

Ok, maybe not the father, but there is no denying that without Pete Carrol there wouldn't be much of a Chaos movement. As a late comer to Chaos, I was astounded when I first read Liber Null. I had to get the rest, and find out anything more I could. Carrol lead to Hine, and Sherwin, etc. Psybermagick left me a little cold, and wondering where Carrol was heading off to. But with The Apophenion, Carrol returns to the ground breaking, insightful and downright scary form of his earlier works. This is not for the uninitiated, for sure... this is seriously heavy stuff. But if you are looking to expand the horizons of your magic, and delve deeper into the Chaos current (which most certainly is not dead), you could go a lot further wrong than with this book.
