    Are you a designer or developer who has either launched an app to no fanfare or realized that those skills alone won't guarantee success on the hyper-completive App Store. If you are, then this book is for you. Author Ken Yarmosh, has done an outstanding job of writing a book that covers the specifics of taking an idea and subsequently launching an app into Apple's App Store. Yarmosh, begins with a discussion of the uniqueness of Apples's touch devices; specifics about the iPod touch ,iPhone, and iPad; what's new in iOS 4; and, how to approach developing an innovative app. Next, the author shows you how to keep customers front and center; identify potential customers; have customers validate initial app assumptions; and, create a concept app. Then, he explores skills needed to bring an app into the App Store; your role in the development process; how to estimate costs to develop your app; and, places to look for help and how to evaluate resources. The author continues by focusing on understanding your app's roadmap; breaking down the features for the first version of your app; an overview of the design and development process; and, managing the progress of your app. Then, he shows you how to install the app on your device; understand beta and working with your beta testers; perform quality assurance by collecting feedback; and, work with your developer to resolve bugs. Next, he focuses on finishing up development items before submitting your app; a checklist of what you'll need to submit to Apple in iTunes Connect; understanding the approval process and checking on the status of the app; and, dealing with app rejections and resubmission. Then, the author explores the five phases of your marketing crescendo; developing your app communication channels; how to find and successfully engage bloggers and press outlets; and, launching your app once it is approved. Finally, he shows you how to monitor feedback and analyze your app's performance; keep customers interested and involved in your app; prepare and submit updates to the App Store; and assess the future of your app. This most excellent book also covers the specifics of taking an idea and sub sequentially launching an app into Apple's App Store. Again, the author of this book assumes that you are a registered iOS developer and enrolled in Appl's iOS Developer Program, which allows you to develop and distribute iPhone and iPad apps on the App Store.
