Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Elizabeth Young
Everyone's favorite opossum, Gilbert, is poised and ready for a day of good natured pranks on April 1st. His best efforts had already been planned, his ‘tricks' were packed, and Gilbert was anxious to get to school for the trickery to begin. Little does he realize he would be the target of many other tricksters—falling for one even before he entered the building! It seems everyone participates in this day of tomfoolery, from the bus driver to Gilbert's teacher. Even his mother is successful at tricking him. Poor Gilbert cannot even get one of his good natured pranks in. After being the recipient of more than a couple of tricks, Gilbert feels none of his antics will succeed. That is, until he devises a secret trick on his main provoker, Lewis. The rest of the day is spent being kind and extra polite, all the while making Lewis so nervous he cannot enjoy the ‘festivities' of the day. Find out what Gilbert's trick is on the very last page of this book—it may even be one you may wish to practice. Besides being a pleasant story, scattered throughout the work are tricks from the author/illustrator. Some are subtle, some not-so-subtle. They are a great component to this book, enhancing the spirit of the day and intriguing every reader to take another look. Reviewer: Elizabeth Young

    Kids enjoy

I sent this to my nephew and nieces and they all really enjoyed it. They even took it to preschool and kindergarten to share with their friends.
