Nothing new here, it's the kind of advice you could get if you just ask your dad. A bunch of the pages are just lined for writing notes in the book. Kimanzi's blog is nothing but self-promotion anymore and he's even trying to sell "Recycled ideas" so I guess he's already out of ideas. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Self-improvement books are often written by people who have already reached the pinnacle of success in their lives and careers. This can make it more difficult to relate to them. Not so with this book.
Kimanzi Constable is still right in the middle of his ascent, from an unhappy bread delivery guy to a noted blogger and speaker. I have enjoyed following Kimanzi's journey since I learned of his story over a year ago, and it has been nothing short of inspiring to see him reaching his goals.
And now, after a couple of successful e-books, Kimanzi has authored his first published book, and it is a must-read for anyone who feels stuck in a rut and doesn't see an end in sight. "Are You Living or existing? -9 steps to change your life," is the game plan Kimanzi has used to radically change his life-and now, you can take apply these experiences to change your own life as well.
Kimanzi has a relaxed writing style (it feels almost like I'm having a conversation while hanging out with a friend) so the steps and the applications feel easily relatable to my own experiences. These are easy to follow, common sense steps that will change your life, if you will just apply them. And Kimanzi has written the content straight to the point. There isn't a lot of fluff, so this is an easy read, although he does encourage you to take time to make sure you are applying the steps before charging ahead.
I hope you will take the time to read this book. You will be glad you did!

I have had personal experience with the man himself! I have seen first hand, when he gets an idea, he puts his whole heart and effort into making it happen. He wrote two books, while working a full time job, and taking care of his family of 4! He still has two more goals to go- moving to Hawaii, and losing weight and keeping it down. I have no doubt in my mind that he will accomplish these goals, sooner than later! Get the book, you will not be disappointed! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. This book is a guide that will take you from step 1 to 9 and give you actionable steps to reach your goal. If you are not Living are you Existing? Kimanzi not only talks the talk, but he walks the walk. Hands down one of the best books with Action steps I've read this year. - Lincoln ParksWas this review helpful? Personal experience is the best laboratory.
In a quest to get his family out of doubt, and out of debt, Constable lays-out nine, rock-solid steps that have moved him from early-morning delivery driver, to sought-after speaker and expert.
Quoting from the book: "It's time for all of us to wake up and start doing things that we are passionate about, things that matter, things that will make a difference in this world."
I couldn't have said it any better.

I read Kimanzi's blog every week and I love it. His writing is straight-forward, honest, inspiring and often funny. He's not afraid to express his true emotions and fears, as well as his motivations and triumphs.
Because I really enjoy reading his blog, I thought I'd read his new book ARE YOU LIVING OR EXISTING? 9 STEPS TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE. First, what I liked. I liked that his book has the same encouraging, enthusiastic, honest, and straightforward tone as his blog. Everyone should have a cheerleader and coach in their life like Kimanzi! I also liked how practical his nine steps were. This is a clear, concise guide to how one man changed his life and how you can too.
Here's what I didn't quite like. Of the three major goals that he brings up: leaving the job he hates to be a writer and coach, moving to Hawaii with his family, and losing weight and keeping it off, he only achieves the first one. I really wanted to hear how he made the move to Hawaii and how he lost the weight and the kept it off. I kept reading, thinking he would write more about how he achieved his other two goals using the nine steps, but it ended without an ending to those two goals.
If I could give this book 3 and a half stars, I would. There's a lot to like about it. I hope that Kimanzi writes another book and tells us how he achieves his other two life goals!

This book is laid out in an easy to read format that steps you through nine great steps to changing your life. I liked that I could sit down and read through a chapter quickly because it flows well and the chapters are concise, without a lot of useless fluff just to make it longer. I was able to read the entire book in a weekend and really go back through and lay out my plan to change my life. It's great to read about someone who has done this and is making changes in his own life and sharing the process with us.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Self help advice for the rest of us.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t connect with some of the self-help Experts and Gurus out there. I know they do good work, and if their income is any reflection to the quality of their advice (which is what I’m supposed to think, I think) then their advice is worth its weight in gold. Yet I have a hard time peeling away the pounds of plastic and veneer of their presentations to find something that really feels genuine.
I met Kimanzi Constable at a local conference last year, and he was just finishing this book, Are you Living or Just Existing. Kimanzi, or Z as he liked to be called, had finally reached the end of accepting life as a delivery driver, and was determined to find the life of his dreams. He was focused on a better income, a better career and a better outlook on life in general. His book, Are You Living or Just Existing, is filled with this blue-collar honesty as he talks about his journey, and the principles he’s using today to change his life.
Z is a normal guy, but he’s not average. He’s applying the advice in his book, not just talking about it. I’ve watched him travel from Hawaii to Israel talking to growing audiences, and I’m seeing the words on his pages come to life. I highly recommend Z’s book. It’s filled with self-help advice for the rest of us.

Ready for a change? Read this book!
This is a book that all should read and then read again and take
action with. Kimanzi writes this book from real life experience and
not just from a so called good idea. He has opened his life up on the
pages of this book as an investment into all who read it. Thank you
Kimanzi! Blessings - Keith Spanberger

This book offers 9 steps to get out of the rut of "existing" and into a life of "living." If you want to make some radical changes in your life, the author teaches you steps such as, how to identify what you want to change, to focus on the "why" of your passion, and, to get more specific as you progress. The book is a fast read, but take your time and think about each chapter and how it fits with the changes you want to make.

A lot of motivational books err on one of two sides: lots of motivation without the experience or lots of experience but little motivation or explanation of how the reader can imitate the author. In his book, "Are You Living or Existing?" Kimanzi gives the reader both: motivation and real life action steps.
Pulling from his own life experiences as well as people he has helped, Kimanzi writes a passionate 9 step formula for helping people move from passivity to pursuing their dreams. I appreciated Kimanzi's transparency about his struggles with health, writing and business. He is honest and doesn't sugar coat real life problems and struggles. Yet he also doesn't let people off the hook. He teaches the importance of personal responsibility and the necessity of making a plan, taking baby steps and taking the journey with other people.
While none of this may be new to readers, it is timely and for some people, it will be exactly what they need to move from doing nothing to having the encouragement and doable action steps to do something.

Kimanzi's book has opened my eyes to the important things in life, and taking it back to the basics of people interacting with people. His view on appreciating everything is solid, knowing his background is that he has LIVED IT. This book has helped me re-position my vantage point on my businesses and family. I will never be the same after reading this book, as my eyes are open and welcome to the change of success. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Twice or thrice while reading "Are you Living or Existing" , I had to put it down to go do something Kimanzi was suggesting. So often we read some things and never quite get to carrying them out because we read them as we do a newspaper, information only. Kimanzi challenges you to read and apply what you are reading. He lays out some practical steps and through out reminds you to pause and do what needs to be done. I love that he talks and shares from his own experiences, not something he read somewhere or heard of. Life experiences always have the most impact. If you want to change your life and don't know where to begin, pick up "Are you living or existing?". It will change your life. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Warning: This book may change how you approach your life forever. If you've ever thought, "is there more to life than this?" then this book will open your heart and your mind to a new reality.
Kimanzi breaks down a potentially difficult and life changing process into 9 easy steps. If you follow the steps you will change your life for the better. Period.
Kimanzi covers everything from how to improve your relationships, finances, job, family, and health. All of these areas of life are connected to one another and only by improving each area will you begin to truly live and not just exist any more.
There are a lot of self-help books out there but this one is different because the author has done it. Kimanzi went from a humble bread truck driver to an internationally known and in demand author, speaker, and consultant. He knows what he's talking about because he changed his life for the better. Now he wants you to do the same.

Kimanzi has prepared for you a legitimate, honest, and practical frame work for you to start chasing your dreams! I liked this book for many reasons. It was very relatable for me. That was what really stuck out. I have had so many similar experiences that Kimanzi describes and it is very inspirational to see that he is LIVING his life! He has laid out a plan that all of us can follow but don't be fooled.....it's not going to be easy. But nothing in life is worth chasing if it is always easy. I have started living my dreams out now and Kimanzi has inspired me to keep going. Are you ready to stop existing and start living? Then get this book!!! You won't be disappointed!!! Hats of to Kimanzi Constable!!!Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
