Overview

The world-renowned fitness coach on the hit TV show The Biggest Loser presents his winning approach to lasting weight loss by showing how to get at the root of your overeating problem, followed by a nutritionally savvy diet and unique exercise plan.
On The Biggest Loser, Bob Harper gives contestants the practical tools and psychological insights they need to get into the best shape of their lives. The key to his success is the emotional connection he makes with each participant, and he brings that same spirit to Are You Ready!

Harper starts with a four-step strategy for getting at the root of negative thought patterns and destructive behaviors, replacing both with a clear way to build self-worth and confidence. With these tools in place, people are empowered to make real, lasting changes in their lives. In an easy-to-follow eating plan, he provides lists of foods that are nutrient-dense and naturally low in calories, more than twenty sample menus, and tips on eating on the run, in restaurants, and on vacation. His fitness plan is geared to making exercise an integral part of daily life with workouts (ranging from 20 to 60 minutes) based on training techniques that tone and strengthen, burn calories, and reshape the body.

Woven throughout Are You Ready! are true-life success stories that will keep readers engaged and motivated; bulleted tips, tools, and coping strategies; and sidebars debunking common myths about food and fitness. Whether your goal is losing ten pounds or a hundred, you will find Harper’s message inspiring and his methods a proven path to finally achieving your dream of weight loss and fitness.

Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
Bob Harper was a popular personal trainer even before he became the fitness coach of The Big Loser's blue team. In Are You Ready! he applies those successful trimming techniques to the weight gain and midriff problems that most of us experience sometime in our lives. His approach is even more real than reality TV: He begins with a go-to-the-roots examination of negative thought patterns and destructive behaviors and replaces them with a motivational sense of self-worth and empowerment. But then the real work begins. His no-nonsense eating plan emphasizes low calorie, nutrient-dense foods, and his sensible 20-60-minute daily workout plans achieve results without sacrificing sanity. A total approach toward better health.

    For all Bob Lovers

One of the great things about "Are You Ready?" is that Bob takes a significant portion of the book to discuss the emotional/mental challenges that are faced when trying to lose weight. As someone who is in the process of losing a fairly decent amount, it was the first time that I've encountered a book that goes so in depth into that aspect - which I consider being the most difficult part of trying to lose weight. He also includes general guidelines to losing weight and plenty of workout ideas. I would highly recommend this to anyone who's looking to lose a few or many pounds.

    Bravo

I have been a fan of the Biggest Loser for a couple of years and am a member of the online site. I find this book to deal with the issues that keep so many doing the yoyo weight loss weight gain spiral. Bob is very passionate about life and helping others and it is so obvious in this book. I would recommend this without a second thought.

Great Book, Good Info that will help you get started!

I really liked the book Are You Ready, by Bob Harper. It is where I and so many of my friends are.

We are at the OK, I want to do it, why can't I keep juggling my life and this exercise routine, eating plan and.....

I like the way Bob addresses this. Just start. Just do the cardio for 30 days. 30 days is what it takes to create a habit. Do the cardio. We can add more later. Thanks.

I can do the cardio for 30 days. I don't have to worry about this on this day, that exercise on that day, you have to do this, all I have to do is the cardio.

It's a good book for people who need to better understand how it all works together in a simple to understand, confidence gaining format.

    Sound Advice!

Very helpful in getting you into a frame of mind in order to make a lifestyle change. It helps address if there are other issues stopping you from losing weight and making a lifestyle change.
Would really love to see more from Bob Harper. I would like to see him do/write something outside of the Biggest Loser as he is a very inspirational trainer with great motivation.
