Overview

Austin rockers Color have enough energy and intensity to inspire a house full of nursing-home residents. The high-octane title track is a get-off-your-ass-and-make-your-life-happen rock anthem; this is the kind of big, rousing rock sorely missing from airwaves for years. Elsewhere, "What Good Is It" continues on this theme, extolling the virtues of overcoming fears to get the brass ring. Surging guitars and fever-pitch vocals climax at the song's end, leaving listeners with the feeling they can climb Mount Everest. "Say Goodbye" departs from the band's general focus on life-affirming themes and portrays a love at the crossroads. The yearning in frontman Chris Cann's voice tugs at the heart as strings swirl over a thundering mid-tempo rock beat. The song well captures the sentiment: If you love someone set them free, if that someone returns -- as the song predicts the lover will -- then that someone was yours. Cann is a walking electron, full of energy. Coupled with infectious melodies, the driven guitar stylings of Dean Truitt, rocket-fueled rock rhythms, and seasoned producer Matt Serletic (Aerosmith, Matchbox Twenty), Color have the stuff successful bands are made of. The quartet's brand of big and bold rock & roll is full of raw intensity, and flavored with a contemporary edge. There's great potential here -- and plenty of color.
