Editorial Reviews

Library Journal - Booksmack!
A damned useful guide on how not to look and act like the Ugly American you are! For instance, yawning in public is considered rude; gauchos like to be peed on*. There is good ferry service between Argentina and Uruguay (the only country with three U's). Sections (e.g., land and people, values and attitudes, etc) point out different aspects of the culture. "Making Friends," for example, notes that punctuality is not a strong suit of the Argentines, whereas "Daily Life" informs us that the working week is usually 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., with a two-hour lunch break that is not a true siesta.
