Overview

Deep beneath the Egyptian sands, an ancient and evil song written in hieroglyphics is discovered in the long lost and buried pyramid of the demonic pharaoh, Aknaseth. It is written, that if this song is performed for the world to hear, it will unleash the Apocalypse upon the world of man Satan will reign and grant immortality to the chosen.
With the help of abominable Egyptologist, Helmut Hartkopff, nihilistic multibillionaire, Festus Baustone the Third will do whatever it takes to bring the song to life at any cost- even if his only daughter is to be sacrificed.

Kirk Vaisto, dubbed the "God of Guitar" by his millions of fans, soon finds himself caught between the forces of divine good and monumental evil. Vaisto begins a musical journey that takes him from an unholy chapter in ancient Egyptian history to the very remains of the Holy Cross, to the concert stage, and beyond all this, to the very edge of Hell itself. Will Kirk give the performance of a lifetime and either deliver our world from evil or will he annihilate us all with the stroke of his hand?

What will happen when Kirk Vasito strikes The Armageddon Chord?

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Death metal guitarist Wagner (of bands Broken Hope and Lupara) debuts with a highly entertaining, albeit predictable, blend of heavy metal and hardcore horror. Festus Baustone III, a morally bankrupt billionaire secretly suffering from terminal cancer, hires archeologists to uncover musical hieroglyphs that, if correctly translated, could ignite apocalypse. The dying tycoon then sets out to find a guitarist who can literally "raise Hell on Earth and wipe the world clean." Kirk Vaisto is just finishing up his latest solo album when his agent manipulates him into taking Baustone's offer, and soon the virtuoso rock guitarist finds himself at the center of a conspiracy with the spiritual future of humankind at stake. Electrified by breakneck pacing, a cast of over-the-top characters (a deformed Nazi Egyptologist, a self-obsessed frontman, a stigmatic priest, etc.), and memorable lines like "The power of the riff compels you," this thriller neatly exploits the considerable shared fanbase of apocalyptic fiction and Apocalyptica.. Music and Egypt. Love it!

I've been on a reading marathon and purchased this on Nook. I loved it! I'm not a musician, but I have traveled to Egypt and was hooked. In the last month I have read (& re-read) some great books including Night, Robopocalypse, On the Road and One Hundred Years of Solitude. I hoped to keep the momentum going and Jeremy Wagner didn't disappoint. I still love a hot, intriguing, "what's going to happen next" dark tale and this was all that. I kept turning the page to see what happens next. Read this one. You will like it.

    Terrific, fast-paced hot read!

I loved this book! Admittedly, I'm not normally a horror kind of girl, but this concept intrigued me: hot rock star, a song that unleashes hell on earth? From the get-go, the action started and didn't let up. I loved Wagner's voice -- he wrote believable characters and you can tell he has an intimate knowledge of the music industry. (It didn't surprise me at all to find out how extensive when I learned more about him as a real-life musician!) The backstage rock star peeks were great, as were the glimpses into the not so fabulous insider life, i.e., how main protagonist Kirk Vaisto had to be on guard against being taken advantage of. And because he's so gifted, well...you just have to read it....

The cast of characters is great and I loved the whole good vs evil dynamic -- you think you know where it's going and then Wagner turns the action on you once again. Of course there's a love interest and some great sex scenes, executed well and may I say, quite nicely.

This book has it all -- overall I was thoroughly entertained from beginning to end. You should definitely buy this book!

    Loved this book!

Fantastic read. I had this book read in a couple of hours because I couldn't put it down. A dark, intense and well-written good vs. evil story with a heavy metal twist. Can't wait to read more from Jeremy in the future!

If you like music and mystery get this fun & quick read

I found the story interesting, the villains heinous and the hero likable. I thought the story line was original and I especially liked the glimpse into the music industry through an artist's eyes.

This book is worth a read (or two)!

I don't want to give anything away so I'll just sum it up; Wagner takes the reader through a world of depth so real, that it's very easy to feel yourself in this story right along side the characters. Beware goose bumps galore in these pages! I was dubbed a reading machine with this book & I don't even read often! I just couldn't put it down. I'm already psyched to read it again! I can't wait to see what else comes from this author!

Page turning, fast moving, heavy metal hit! Wear your earplugs!!

Excellent read with good mix of mystic, metal, guitar geek stuff, drama, and a wee bit o' romance. This book definately kept my attention for all 231 pages! Excellent debut novel and can't wait to see what else is rolling around in that mind of yours.

    Sue him Steve

Has Steve Vai sued the author for character assassination? What a total waste of my reading time! This drivel is so bad and unbelieveable that I am amazed it even got published. Satan's guitar vs. God's guitar? C'mon! Even the sex scenes were goofy. Skip this.

    Interesting concept

I'm a huge fan of any rock related novels. Alexie's Reservation Blues, Doyle's The Commitments, Hornby's High Fidelty, and Niemi's Popular Music are among my favorite novels of all time. When The Armageddon Chord landed on my screen during a Google search, I was excited. The cover rocks and the story concept is interesting, but it read like a disappointing, self-published book.

Was this written by a high school kid? I cannot believe anyone not related to the author even bothered to finish this book.

    more from this reviewer

I purchased The Armageddon Chord because I had the great pleasur

I purchased The Armageddon Chord because I had the great pleasure of
meeting the author, Jeremy Wagner, at a book convention. I found it to
be an easy, fast-paced, page-turning nightmare with heavy metal sounds
in the background. The characters are well developed and have strong
personalities that carried their own, with a little humor added as well.
Jeremy Wagner has taken the battle between good & evil and added
metal. The story flowed from page to page making it an enjoyable read.
From Kirk's narcissistic self, he learned to believe and have faith. I
enjoyed it from beginning to end. Even with the evident sexual tension
and sexual content incorporated in the book; I would allow my teenage
daughter to read it. I could not put the book down. With each turn of
the page, I wanted to know more. I look forward to more works from this
    up and coming writer.

Figured a heavy metal book would be cool, but this is total garb

Figured a heavy metal book would be cool, but this is total garbage. The sex is lame and the so called epic moments seem like they were written for a school project. The story is plain stupid. Horror? What horror? My grandma is scarier than this.

    Fast-Paced, Highly Imaginative Horror-Fiction

This book was a really FUN read. The horror, imagery and characters in this book are highly creative...particularly the hateful ones! If your expecting a book of prose, song lyrics or "Henry Rollins" spoken-word stories, this book is not for you. But if you are a fan of horror fiction, Jeremy Wagner is clearly a great story teller. You don't need to be a rock music or metal fan to like this one.
