Breanna Talmage goes through men, lots and lots of men. She has no desire for any type of relationship beyond the bedroom and then only on her terms. Despite her portrayal as someone who enjoys sex and lots of it, I enjoyed her character immensely. Instead of coming across as a selfish, care about her own pleasure type of person, the author portrayed Breanna as a very strong, independent, knows what she wants, take charge kind of woman. While some men may have felt used, Breanna was always up front with them right from the start about what to expect or not expect.
Evan is an undercover detective who is best friends to Breanna’s stepfather. He cannot forget the one-night stand he shared with Breanna two years in the past. When Breanna’s life is threatened Evan whisks her away into hiding. It was great watching the sparks fly between these two and when they finally stop fighting their attraction, the sheets go up in flames.
Even though there was a suspense portion to the story, in my opinion the romance between Breanna and Evan was still the story’s primary focus. Thankfully, because the conflict was wrapped up in a neat tidy little package that left me scratching my head thinking “Seriously?” I will have to say though, Ms. LaFleur got me. After reading book 3, I figured Breanna’s “villain” was a foregone conclusion but she definitely proved me wrong.
Despite the tidy ending, this was a great addition to the Coopers’ Companions series which has turned out to be one of my favorite series of all time.

## good read, but have to agree with the other reviewers, the ending was really abrupt. Let me be honest, it sucked! I have noticed that with all of the Lynn LaFleur books that I've purchased. She is a great writer, why she would want to cheat her readers out of a satisfying ending I don't know. (Hence only 3 stars)Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. I was really enjoying the book but the ending was disappointing and abrupt. Almost like the author ran out of time. Since this was the last of the series, it would have been nice to have an epilogue or something. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
