Overview

All Lexi wants to do is get through the day at her boring temp job with Green Hand Insurance. That’s until she discovers the vice president, Martin Dean, in a pool of blood and herself at the center of an investigation into insurance fraud.

Millions of dollars are missing, the chief suspect is dead and her mysterious, sexy, new boss is not what he seems.

Recruited by the joint task force working on the case, all Lexi has to do is work out who killed Dean and where the missing millions are. That’s easier said than done when her sister insists upon the baby shower to end all baby showers, her wise-ass cop family just wants to keep her safe, someone keeps leaving her creepy gifts, and all the clues point to a seedy sex club on the wrong side of town.

As the bodies start to pile up, Lexi is on a race against time to find the killer and the money, before she’s the next one in the murderer’s sights.

Who Glares Wins
Command Indecision

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It had romance, mystery and it was funny.  The storyline and characters are believable. But, this book has started to remind me of the  beginning of the author Janet Evanovich's character  "Stephanie Plum" series about a bounty hunter. I will probably buy the next book in Ms. Chafer's series because I did enjoy this book. But, I just would not like to see a repeat of "Stephanie Plum" once was enough.

630 pages of a great read. It has romance, murders and is also funny. Loved Lexi, Maddox & Solomon, looking foward to the rest of the series. GJRA

A fun read. Lexi reminds me of Plum, fun and unpredictable. She also has two male counter parts, Soloman being like Ranger and Adam the dependable boyfriend. I really enjoyed this series and will continue it. Looking for a fun new series, give this a try. ~Jeannie Matthews

It was the title that intrigued me so I ordered the book. It was fantastic--charming, funny--so much that I didn't want it to end. I loved the characters. They were rich fully developed and delicious. Lexi is great. She sounds exactly like my girlfriends when they've been in the throes of man trouble. I found myself wanting her to be happy. And both Adam and John were wonderful. Couldn't help but notice that of the two, John might be a more complex character. Maybe I'm just a sucker for hidden depths. Any way I'm addicted to the series--read all three of them in one evening. Sigh--sometimes I'm sorry I can read so fast. It's one of those books you'd like to savor.

I scanned the many reviews this author/book has received and I can tell you it is NOTHING like Evanovich's writing. I have read Evanovich on my sister's recommendation and felt like it was a chore of sisterly obligation I found more odious with every page filled with shallow characters and pointless plots. I am a Who-Dunnit addict and it took me until I was over 3/4 of the book to pin-point with accuracy the villain. Normally I make my predictions after the first four chapters. Because he is contracted by marital commitment to my happiness, my husband has heard them all. Upon finishing a book he asked "Who-Dunnit?" and was surprised my initial assessment had been inaccurate. This book made me laugh out loud with it's characters. When i was fresh out of coloege and searching for a design position, I was grateful to find a temp agency that helped me out. And Camilla Chafer had nailed the peon tasks and office mentality a peon in that position would encounter. It rings true and i love when that happens. As a big bonus for me, the plot surprised me. I have read many sub-par books that only seem good comparison to the previous sub-par book I had just read. This one isn't one of those. It is genuinely a good read. A fun read. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Wow this book was amazing. When I read the description I thought it was going to be really cheesy. But it reels you in the second you start reading it and you never want it to end. This book has everything going for it. It has romance, it's funny as heck, has great characters that are hot to boot, and action packed. Lexi is a total bad a**. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK! I have a new favorite Author.

Believable characters, situation and outcome. I really enjoyed this book, which surprised me a little. Based on the title alone, I did not expect it to be this good. No inconsistencies, few editing issues. This book has the mystery component, romance, and the character has a sense of humor. No bad language or inappropriate sexual situations for younger readers. In fact, the main character is a very good role model for young women. No religious stuff inserted into the story either. A great story and well-written.

This book is a fun read with likeable characters but the story has a lot of inconsistencies. Lexie Graves is smart, the police competent and the bad guys are good at being bad. However, the characters keep taking actions that defy logic. For example, why would killers bother to remove a body from the victim's office while leaving behind a bloody mess to be found? They put the body on ice and plant the body in the victim's home the next day. Why bother moving the body and why freeze it if the body is to be moved the next day? And why would the author say the body had an odor when it was still frozen at discovery? Also, the English author sometimes makes the mistake of having the American characters use British terms such as "lift" for "elevator". The killer became pretty obvious to me, but the smart girl and cops were oblivious. The author's inattention to details and inplausible scenarios were a distraction, but I still enjoyed the book and the humor actually made me laugh out loud at times. Read this book if you like a light, humorous story and aren't too critical of details.

This is Stephanie Plum all over again. The two men. One in law enforcement the other dark and mysterious and both super hot. The family dinners, ditzy blonde becoming a PI (super close to a bail bondsman) the best friend. Nothing original about this story at all. I enjoyed it the first time I read the Stephanie Plum version but I wasn't looking to read a copy of it!

Good Book. Plausible storyline... having an appearance of truth or reason; seemingly worthy of approval or acceptance; credible; believable:

This is cte, but not as compelling as the very similar Stopanie Plum series. Character developement so shallow you have no doubt about the identity of the mysterious bad guy.

It was a great read. I just dont want to read the rest of the series because of Adam and Lexi. I want to believe they stay together because i think she deserves it. Maybe later ill read the rest of the series. This book was funny too. Chemistry with both guys which i know will cause problems in the series. Well written.

For a first book, very good. A little slow in places but well done, however, why all the anonymous reviews. This turns me off and questions whether the reviews are legitimate. I decided to take a chance though and enjoyed the book.
