Overview

When it comes time to put the finishing touches on the edges of a fiber project, a crochet border is the perfect solution. Edgings are essential adornments to the most popular knit and crochet pieces blankets, scarves, and afghans. But borders can do so much more; they give handmade goods a delightful finishing touch, serve as focal points, tidy uneven edges, and add handcrafted flair to store-bought apparel.

Borders often require turning a corner shaping the edgings around a 90-degree angle without breaking the pattern. This is rarely simple; add too few stitches at a corner and the work rounds inward; too many stitches, and the piece begins to ruffle awkwardly.  Unfortunately, most published edging patterns fail to include specific instructions for turning the corner, leaving crafters to fend for themselves.

Edie Eckman comes to the rescue in Around the Corner Crochet Borders, a collection of 150 colorful crochet frames, each with detailed instructions for working around a corner. Instructions are offered both as text and as charts for working in-the-round; back-and-forth charts are also included for when that method is more appropriate. Photographs of finished borders, each turning a 90-degree corner, allow readers to see the details up close. Borders range from the delicate to the flamboyant and are sure to appeal to a new generation of trend-setting crafters.

Offering practical solutions to one of needlecrafts most vexing challenges, Around the Corner Crochet Borders is an essential addition to every crocheters reference library. With this book, marvelous crochet borders are just around the corner.

    Great Book!!

As a novice, I am always looking for easy to use crochet instructions! Really enjoy using both the diagrams and instructions. The greatest part is that all of the borders include corners. I have only had this book a short while and have already used it for afgans, baby blankets, doilies... I can't seem to put it down. This will definitely be part of my crochet/craft library...

    Recommended for all crafters.

I got this book as an e-book for my Nook App on my tablet. This way I could take it with me wherever I go and have the instructions available at any time. The patterns and colors look very good on my tablet, just as good as the physical book. The book explains how to setup the borders on fabric or yarn crafts. Number of stitches needed and how to calculate to get to the corner using the pattern. Patterns are in graphs and written instructions. Helpful for those of us that are not proficient in reading graphs. I have been using the patterns to put crocheted edgings on fleece blankets for gifts. So far they have all worked out well, and look very nice. I look forward to trying out many of the patterns. I recommend this book for anyone interested in adding a special flair to a knitted, crocheted or fabric project.

Highly recommend this one! Well done!

I haven't tried any patterns yet from this book, but I'm a Master level crocheter and taught it for many years at all levels. So just by reading the instructions I can tell they are well written and haven't found any mistakes so far...
One thoughtful thing about the book, is that the colors of the yarn they chose for the examples (pictures), are very soothing to the eye and not so dark that you can't see the detail. I've found that if I can see the details clearly, I can work through and solve ANY mistake in the instructions (mistakes happen quite frequently with crochet and knitting patterns). The colors were not garishly bright or with extreme contrast either.
I design most of my projects and this will be a great time saver to have the borders already to go including corners!
My imagination runs wild with ideas on what to use these borders on... Everything from afghans, shawls, scarves, potholders and even Irish crochet lace and needle lace projects. Of course crochet borders are a great touch to many knitting projects too.
    I am well pleased.

I love this book. I create a lot of afghans and baby blankets and am not always happy with the recommended border pattern. Only problem is there are so many to choose from. Very user friendly, providing both charts and written instructions, as well as basic instructions for creating borders on woven, knitted and crocheted fabrics.
