Lions, Tigers and … Okay so there may have been panthers and not bears but most definitely there were lions and tigers. These tigers were totally hot, rich and titled. Not to mention maybe just a little arrogant and stand offish. After all they were treated badly by a wife and mother.
Regan Sauders, an Abcynian guard to her friend Miss Lady Ashton, wants nothing more than to become a doctor. Ladies of any kind did not become doctors in 1784. Regan was determined to become the first. While out walking with Lady Ashton and her parents she sensed her mate or should I say he sensed her first. They happen upon Lord Raybourne and the Duke of Arrington.
Communication between them was done with thoughts sent to each other. This was the true way to know your life mate.
Thinking she was to going to be a spinster what a surprise for Regan to find her mate. He wasn’t just any mate he was Nicholas, Duke of Arrington and an Abcynian Tiger. Which was of course was kept from public knowledge as these were ancient people.
As Regan and Nicholas go back and forth and fall in love, other Abcynian guards end up being killed. Nicholas and Lord Danford (Lady Ashton’s) father work together to find the cause of the murders.
In the meantime Nicholas pursues Regan who at first didn’t want to be mated, but soon comes to care for Nicholas very deeply. They first release there need for each other by using their minds. When they do have relations for the first time, the next, the non-stop…well, let me just say the pages heated up.
The end where Regan sees Nicholas in his true form a white tiger is breathtaking as you see that no matter what they may have fought about is forgotten as she watches him fight for his family of which she is a part of. The love shines forth between the two of them and reaches out to both of his sons. It is just…heartwrenching.
There is so much going on and so many characters to keep track of that you don’t want to put this story down but instead you want to keep reading to find out who was behind everything.
I found myself enjoying this more as I got involved in the story. The first half of the book was a little slow for me but once the storyline picked up I became so involved I wanted to fight right alongside Regan , Nicholas, Sebastian, Harrington, Lord Danford, Lady Danford, Lady Ashton, and well you get my drift.
Ms. Stockton seduced the reader into falling for the characters by making them seem so believable. I felt what they were going through crying right along with them to the very end.
I would definitely recommend this book to the paranormal lover or history buff. I will forever think of Nicholas when I smell oranges and chocolate.
