Overview

It's been a difficult year for Abilene Collins. Since her father's death, her whirlwind life of travel has come to an end.

Now, she has to live with her uncle; he's a secretive man known only by the signature he leaves in holiday and birthday cards. He doesn't like questions, and when Lena starts asking too many about the family she never had a chance to know, it isn't hard to tell he's lying.

Family portraits have been removed from the walls, areas of the house are off limits, and some rooms even seem to have been walled off completely. No one wants to talk to her, especially where the subject concerns her relatives.

One day, the grounds keeper tells her that she was stolen from her mother years before. Lena is the most recent member of a family of telepaths, but that isn't all...her family is well-known as a religious pillar of the community, and her grandfather has used this status to gain political power over the Silenti. Some people aren't fond of the Darays, and this has led to the near extinction of the family through assassination.

With Lena as their last descendant, the little family she has wants her back, even if it kills her.

Now you see it, now you don't!

    A. L. Tyler's "Arrival of the Traveler" is a foray into a world we almost see out of the corner of our eye. Is it really there or is it just a shadow of what could be? I'm not telling. I will leave that pleasure to A. L. Tyler. Come along and you will enjoy the trip.

I love this story can't wait till I read the next one. I love adventure and magic of some sort. I like to put myself in the book and feel what it's like to be the main character. In this book a girl who's world is turned upside down when her father and grandmother die and she ends up in a house where everything is not as it seems . she must learn the ways of the family for other doors to open for her. Along the way she finds friends and enemies. She learns about jealousy and love. Her family history is a strange one including her mother's father who is old and wants and heir.

    Review:

"Arrival of the Traveler" by A.L. Tyler was some interesting read especially if you are into the paranormal, sci-fi and magic all rolled up into one. This author will keep you busy with this captivated story. From this read you will have a heroine who was a protagonist that was definitely strong, well determined to overcome all the obstacles and disaster that she had to face.

"Lena is thrust into a world of political intrigue and plots - a world all the Silenti inhabit. She learns that true Silenti don't speak out loud, they are all telepaths and therefore just think to one another to carry on private conversations as well as public debates and conversations. Yet Lena is unable to do that - she learns to hear others and respond, but only if they are "speaking" directly to her." "She will have to learn to navigate through social, religious and political pitfall's in her new life."

This author did a wonderful job at allowing the reader to be connected with this complex relationship that was so strange throughout this novel. There were characters all over the place. Some were very interesting while there were a few that were not so lovable. This will be one read that you will have to stay on your toes...keeping up with it.

"Arrival of the Traveler" will be a interesting and fascinating novel of family and betrayal and will keep you wondering what will happen next. If you are in to this type of genre read you will be ready for the next sequel.

    I'm Hooked

Why are there stairs here, but no door at the top? Now why can she see the words in the book but not before today? Who is staring down at her from the fourth floor? And how did he get there without any stairs? Life has just turned upside down for Lena and it seems to be getting stranger... Come along with A. L. Tyler and me as we learn more...
