Richard Provost has written a very thoughtful,Methodical, book on practicing the guitar:or any other instrument. The book goes through taking apart and analysing the music-good if you are going through a music theory course-to hearing the melody-in the bass or treble. It also goes through being accountable and learning to become a self acctuating musician: Learning to here your mistakes and correct them in a timely fashion. The book also helps musicians learn to schedule out practice times and get the most from them. It takes effort to learn and apply the techniques in the book but it's well worth it. That is why I give it five stars:
