Art for Fun Projects

Art for Fun Projects

by Sue Lacey

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Another British import makes its way into the art-books-for-kids scene. This one ties in hands-on projects to original works of art. The choices and projects are generally clever—the Renaissance Italian Arcimboldo's vegetable portraits are the inspiration for lessons in portrait collage; works by Monet and Morisot offer insights about color and light; a Greek Red-Figure Vase becomes the starting point for creating a papier-mâché bowl. Each work of art is dated, with a short description of it or its artist. There are more than enough projects included to keep a lower school art class or an artful child busy for an entire year—and a glossary is included. 2001, Copper Beech Books, $14.95. Ages 6 to 10.
