Meet the Author

Ellen G. Levine is co-founder and faculty of ISIS Canada and a Senior Staff Social Worker at the Hincks-Dellcrest Centre for Children's Mental Health in Toronto, Canada. She is Core Faculty and Dean of Individualized Studies in Expressive Arts Therapy at the European Graduate School in Switzerland. Stephen K. Levine is Professor Emeritus of Social Science at York University in Toronto, Canada, Vice-Provost and Dean of the Doctoral Program in Expressive Arts: Therapy, Education, Consulting and Social Change at the European Graduate School in Switzerland, and Co-Director of ISIS Canada. Ellen and Stephen have authored and edited many books in the field of expressive arts therapy.
Sally Atkins is a poet, performing artist, psychotherapist, psychologist, registered expressive arts therapist and registered expressive arts consultant/educator. She is Professor of Human Development and Psychological Counseling and Founder of the Expressive Arts Therapy Program at Appalachian State University, and Core Faculty of the European Graduate School.
Debra Kalmanowitz, MA, RATh, is a registered art therapist (UK), a Research Postgraduate of the Department of Social Work and Social Administration, and a Honorary Clinical Associate of the Centre on Behavioral Health, University of Hong Kong. She has worked extensively in the context of trauma, political violence, and social change. Debra is the co-author of The Portable Studio: Art Therapy and Political Conflict: Initiatives in the former Yugoslavia and South Africa and the edited book Art Therapy and Political Violence: With Art, Without Illusion.

Shaun McNiff PhD, ATR is the Provost and Dean of Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts. An internationally-renowned figure in the creative arts therapies, he has written many critically-acclaimed books including Art as Medicine: Creating a Therapy of the Imagination,Educating the Creative Arts Therapist and Depth Psychology of Art. Dr McNiff has been honoured on many occasions for his pioneering contributions to the creative arts therapy field, and he is the 1997 recipient of the America Art Therapy Association's Honorary Life Member Award.
