Overview

Few texts have been favored with such success. Fifteen after its introduction,The Art of Public Speaking remains the leading text in its discipline. The Art of Public Speaking is successful because it works well for both students and instructors. Instructors have come to rely on its careful explanations, its reinforcing examples, and its attention to the basics that help their tentative students become competent speakers. Instructors have also come to rely on the most comprehensive package of support materials available with any public speaking text. Meticulously prepared by the author to support and reflect the text, the ancillary materials allow the least experienced teaching assistant and the busiest professor to teach with confidence.

Couldn't use book without the Connect Lucas Registration code. This book is no help at all as it doesn't give any software or access code to view material online. Everything in the book requires online subject matter. Free student trial still requires a code from inside the book that was not included. McGraw Hill could not resolve the matter, saying they are getting away from student-self-study and want the teacher to provide the url. My teacher would not get the url because that's more money the school has to pay. B&N would not resolve the problem, they sent me another useless book without the code and I had to return that one. Book cost 110+tax which was 40.00 more then I was told by the teacher it would cost me, so I figured I would pay the more money get the latest edition (lle) and have full access to online material. It ruined my class. I was frantically on the phone with my instruction, the publisher and B&N to resolve the crisis and finally had to find my own online speech material with a search. Book is also very agenda oriented. All examples of good speeches in the book come from President Obama and Muslim culture world about Ramadan and so on.
