Galton was one of the initial European explorers to trek through southwestern Africa. Food and water weren't always plentiful, the flora and fauna were often dangerous (though edible), and the sun was unforgiving. Galton's tips run the gamut from selecting tools and clothes to pack to making traps, finding eats and drinks, tying knots, starting a fire, sleeping comfortably, and much more. Though some of the advice is dated, some is still quite useful and fun to peruse. Copyright 2006 Reed Business Information.
