ATTENTION ARTISTS: In order to self-educate, we must read. START HERE!!

A simply amazing text. Henri is such a natural teacher. His ability to understand, and to pass on that understanding is a gift to us all. And although I don't agree with everything he says, I am a better man for having listened. Do not miss out on this one.

great insights, and not just for artists

Much of the book consists of one-or-two sentence statements about the artistic process, from Henri's years of teaching. These are interspersed with longer essays, which were lectures he presented.

I am a musician, not a visual artist, so much of the technical detail is not directly applicable to me. But even these aspects are analogous to similar problems and challenges in music, and doubtless in many other fields, and thus worth reading.

Many of the brief insights are directly applicable to music, and to anyone seeking to live a life of awareness.

Highly recommended; this is the most valuable book I have encountered in a long time.

    Great inspirational book

I read this book in pieces as I prepare to paint. It gives me insight and perspective as I think about my painting.

    A Fantastic Book!

If you are an artist or just one who is fascinated by art this is a quite moving book by a very knowledgable man. It is most inspiring for new artists as well as old.

    Excellent!

Along with technical advice for the artist, the book does reflect the title, "The Art Spirit." A "must have" book in the library of every artist, in whatever field.
