Artemis Fowl is on another adventure. Now that his father is finally awakening from a coma, Artemis decides to do one last scheme to boost the family’s income. Unfortunately, his bodyguard Butler has been mortally injured—or so it seems. Fowl has a connection with a certain LEP fairy who has the ability to heal Butler. The only problem is that they’re not the best of friends lately, and Butler will never be the same powerhouse he was previously. Artemis enlists Captain Holly Short, Butler’s sister Juliet (who just so happens to be following in her brother’s footsteps) and Mulch Diggums, a ground-guzzling tunnel dwarf to outsmart the greedy, power hungry and despicable Jon Spiro. They battle over the C Cube a powerful, verbally controlled computer that can do everything—including making all other technology obsolete. The C Cube is also a phone and a 3D TV. Artemis is physically overpowered by Jon Spiro and his powerful body guard Arno Blunt, but no one can out-clever Artemis Fowl. Do not be fooled by the fact that he is only a kid. He can pretty much do anything that he sets his powerful mind to, plus he has that touch of fairy magic on his side. Extremely detailed artwork brings the world of Artemis Fowl to life. Different colored squares keep the characters’ inner dialogue separate, and Colfer’s blunt-talking characters practically jump off the page. In alternating chapters, readers are taken into the crazy lives of both Artemis and Captain Holly Short, who are extremely interesting characters that one would follow no matter what the storyline.
