Editorial Reviews

World Institute for Self Healing
"Current pharmacological treatments for arthritis are effective to various degrees in controlling the symptoms, but with great drawbacks, including potential toxicity, cost and potential detrimental effects on both mood and immune function. An effective non-pharmacological therapy for arthritis that returns control to the patients without side effect would have a major impact on arthritis treatment. Qigong therapy from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) shows promise in this direction."

    More than exercises

This book gives more than just exercises to help with arthritis. It gives a place to start looking at the causes and hope for a cure, improvement or at the very least no bad side effects.

I was interested in reading and trying the exercises because I teach taiji and qigong and also have arthritis brought on by the side effects of chemotherapy treatment for cancer. I my humble opinion qigong helps greatly. This book very clearly states the reasoning behind why it works. Instead of adding a pile of drugs and pain killers to treat symptoms, it addresses the cause and thinking behind why the body gets out of balance.

In this age of the Baby Boomer Generation coming into their senior years, an age of athletes pushing their body's to extreme limits and working in spite of severe injuries and an age where our corporate food source has less and less real nutrition; this book is a must read.

Do more than just exercise, learn why arthritis appears and how to stop it's progression.

    Good News for Arthritis Sufferers

For those arthritis sufferers who are not familiar with Traditional Chinese Medicine or the practice of qigong for health and healing, there is good news. Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming's Arthritis Relief - Chinese Qigong for Healing and Prevention" offers a successful alternative to western medical treatment for treating and healing arthritis.

After over four thousand years of development, Chinese medicine has developed acupuncture, massage and herbal remedies for the treatment of arthritis - and a system of gentle qigong exercises that effectively treat, heal and even prevent arthritis.

Before demonstrating the qigong exercises in his book, Dr. Yang wants to make sure his readers have a solid foundation of understanding regarding, arthritis, qigong theory, and differences between western and eastern medical treatment of arthritis. The book therefore includes chapters introducing the general concepts of qigong, a summary of arthritis (including comparisons of western and eastern methods of treatment), and how qigong practice can effectively treat arthritis. The qigong exercises are then explained and demonstrated with step by step instructions and clearly diagramed photographs.

Apparently 1 in 7 of us will be afflicted with arthritis in our lifetime. If you don't suffer from arthritis now - you may someday - or you probably know - or will know someone who does. Dr. Yang has made the world a better place by producing a book that potentially can bring so much relief and healing to so many people.

"Arthritis Relief" is highly recommended for arthritis sufferers, healers, and for anyone interested in the theory - and the health and healing aspects - of qigong exercise. More good news: Dr. Yang has also produced a DVD program titled "Simple Qigong Exercises for Arthritis Relief" which I'd recommend as a companion to this book.
