In the #1 New York Times bestselling serial the Spiderwick Chronicles, readers were enthralled by the account of the those siblings, Jared, Simon, and Mallory Grace, as they battled dwarves, goblins, elves, and a diabolical ogre in their efforts to hold on to their uncle Spiderwick,s life work. Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Fans will welcome new additions to favorite series. Arthur Spiderwick's Field Guide to the Fantastical World Around You "accurately restored and described" by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black includes many of the beliefs upon which the Spiderwick Chronicles are based, on parchment-like pages that resemble an authentic scientific journal. Devoted readers will delight in the statement, "It should be noted that the color red is protective, but faeries do not like the color and will shy away from it," for instance, as part of Spiderwick's list of "equipment and protection." Handwritten notes and abundant drawings bring to life a scientific classification system for Brownies ("family: homunculidae"), Pixies, Griffins and the like. From The Critics
Everything you ever want to know about goons and goblins is in this beautifully detailed, artistic book. Readers learn the names and habits of dozens of the mysterious (sometimes grotesque) creatures that enter our nightmares—and remain there! There are tons of colorful and informative pages of myths and folklore. From wailing banshees and gloomy gargoyles, to tricky phookas and creatures most of us do not want to talk about, the pages are filled with monsters that come in the daytime and others that go bump in the night. The book features thirty-one faeries, pixies, goblins, and ogres, and is the ultimate encyclopedia of a rather fantastical life. It will make a great research instrument for anyone who enjoys gothic fantasies. Who knows where the discoveries of what is learned in the pages of this book will lead? The book cover dares the reader to read this book, so peek inside with great care. Reviewer: Beverly Melasi

My daughter has consistently taken this book out of the library. I decided to just buy it. She keeps it near her bed and reads it almost daily.

    Inspiration for all fairy lovers

The spiderwick chronicles has not only inspired me, but also many other people who love folklore and fairies. No other book has ever shown me that fairies are'nt always beautiful and freindly but creepy and dangerous creatures that roam the earth.

    Spiderwick is the BEST!

I think this feild book is the greatest! It is so interesting to me about all of the different creatures that are inside it. I'm actually wondering if any of these creatures are real?! I know it sounds strange, but after you read the books and the felid guild you question it, is the world real? Well, I hope you read this awsome felid guild, it is so cool!!

    Fantastic!

This is such a brilliant companion to most fantasy books. I referred to this field guide while reading Holly Black¿s Tithe and it just makes the experience so much more colorful and vivid. This book is such a treasure!

    Excellent Fantasy Book

This book is an excellent compliment to the Spiderwick Chronicles. It is the fieldguide the children find in the chronicles. The book is filled with beautifully drawn pictures and detailed information on the creatures of the unseen world. The book is great because it's set up like an actual science field journal. Anyone who is interested in the magical realm - i.e. faeries, ogres, dragons and things of that nature- will love this book. Those not familiar will get drawn into the book and enjoy the detailed information. I couldn't put it down

    Great Book With Outstanding Pictures!!!

After reading the series, I couldn't wait for this field guide to come out. After it came out and I bought it, I started to read the first chapter and was outstanded! This is officially one of the best books in the universe! The pictures are beautiful looking and the information makes you actually believe in the world of Faery. Everybody in the world should read this.

    A Great Field Guide

I have read the Spiderwick Chronicles in the past and have waited ever so patiently for this field guide to come out. Finally, it did and I am soo happy. As soon as I got money from report card grades, I ran out to WaldenBooks to buy it. It is soo good and detailed. Anyone who likes fantasy-like creatures and/or the Spiderwick Chronicles has to get this.
