About the Author

Brigadier Chris Roberts AM, CSC graduated from the Royal Military College, Duntroon, in 1967 and saw operational service in South Vietnam with the 3rd Special Air Service Squadron. Later he commanded the Special Air Service Regiment, the Special Forces Group, and Northern Command. He is the author of the seminal and highly acclaimed The Landing at Anzac, 1915, several articles and book chapters on Gallipoli, and is co-author of Anzacs on the Western Front: The Australian War Memorial Battlefield Guide. He is a Visiting Fellow at the University of NSW (Canberra).  
Major General Paul Stevens AO graduated from the Royal Military College, Duntroon, in 1967 and saw operational service in South Vietnam with 105 Battery, 1st Field Regiment. Later he was Commanding Officer/Chief Instructor of the School of Artillery, Director of Studies at the Army Command and Staff College, and Chief of Personnel – Army. He has previously written papers on the employment of artillery at Gallipoli and at the Battle of Fromelles.
