Overview

Notes From Your Bookseller

The quest for satisfaction in life is often an arduous one, and this book is here to remind readers that the individual is in charge of their own lot. This is a guide on how to take control of that charge.

"As a Man Thinketh" by James Allen is a classic self-help book that explores the power of thought and its impact on one's life. Published in 1903, it delves into the idea that the quality of a person's thoughts directly influences their circumstances and character. Through concise yet profound insights, Allen discusses how individuals can take control of their destinies by mastering their thought patterns and cultivating positive attitudes.

Editorial Reviews

AUG/SEP 07 - AudioFile

With the success of THE SECRET, some of the older "positive thinking" gurus are being dusted off and reissued. Allen wrote on the vanguard of the movement, which was facilitated by the marginalization of Protestantism's doctrine of original sin by some Christian leaders in the 1950s. Charley Steiner's brusque, deep voice seems hurried, perhaps due to time restrictions concerning the capture of the entire book on a single CD. He is unconvincing as he delivers the name-it-and-claim-it platitudes that will be repetitive to those who are familiar with them and cloying to those who are not. He has a tendency to fire the bromides rapidly, barely allowing the each one to make its impression before restating it. S.M.M. © AudioFile 2007, Portland, Maine
