Meet the Author

Scott Walker grew up in Statesville, North Carolina, was an Eagle Scout, and enjoyed playing the trombone and piano. In his senior year he gave a solo piano recital at the local college, white dinner jacket and all. He earned at BS in physics from Wake Forest and an MA in physics at the University of Virginia and a Ph.D. in physics at Virginia in 1961 under a National Science Foundation scholarship. Upon realizing that his talent was for complex, multidisciplinary interactions in the industrial world, he left the academic world to join Hughes Aircraft where he worked from 1961–1997.
