    Heatherheart's Destiny Chapter 5

"All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Clanrock for an important ceremony," Fernstar announced leaping onto the Clanrock. Slowly, the cats of the clan began to settle down below the Clanrock.
The clanrock was a tall rock that jutted out from the rocky walls of Rockclan's camp. The leader called clan meetings from the top of the rock. This meeting was Heatherkit's apprentice ceremony. It had been about five moons since Heatherkit had opened her eyes.
"I wonder who my mentor is going to be," Poolkit meowed.
    "Me too," Moonkit agreed.
"I can't wait to sleep in the apprentice den," Graykit added.
"I'm excited about everything," Heatherkit exclaimed.
Suddenly, Fernstr strted the meeting. "Today we have gathered to see four new kits become apprentices. "Poolkit, Graykit, Moonkit, and Heatherkit, come forward."
Graykit led his siblings to the front of the camp. Poolkit and Moonkit followed him looking confident. Heatherkit slowly followed her siblings keeping her head down. She didn't like the way everyone was looking at them.
"Graykit, you will be known as Graypaw. Your mentor will be Skyheart," Fernstar announced. Skyheart padded forward looking nervous. "I know this is your first apprentic and I hope you will teach him well." Skyheart dipped his head and touched noses with Graypaw.
As the ceremony continued, Poolkit became Poolpaw and his mentor was Cedarflame. Moonkit became Moonpaw and her mentor was Willowpool. Finally it was Heatherkit's turn.
"Heatherkit come forward," Fernstar began. Slowly and cautiously Heatherkit stepped in front of her siblings. She looked at the ground, not daring to see everyone staring at her. "From this moment until you become a warrior you will be known as Heatherpaw. I will be your mentor." Heatherpaw looked up at Fernstar. Th leader was going to be her mentor. Wow!
Fernstar lept down and touched noses with Heatherpaw. Her green eyes glittered excitedly.
"How about we go explore the territory?" Fernstar asked.
"That sounds great. Could Moonpaw and I come with you?" Willowpool responded.
"Sounds good," Fernstr replied. "Let's go." The four cats headed toward the camp entrance. This was Heatherkit's first time in the forest. She couldn't wait!
