Library Journal - Library Journal
This lavishly illustrated catalog accompanied an exhibit of Ascher-designed fabrics at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Started in London in the 1940s, the Ascher firm specialized in commissioning well-known artists such as Moore, Matisse, Calder, and others to do fabric designs; the results were used extensively by high-fashion designers. The illustrations in this catalog recall fashion photographs in Vogue and Harper's Bazaar , and the text is similar in tone. Probably of interest only to students of fashions of the 1940s through the 1970s, and as such only for specialized fashion collections.Constance Ashmore Fairchild, Univ. of Illinois Lib., Urbana-Champaign
