Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
According to her mother, four-year-old Ashley Megan Eckles enjoyed coloring, playing with Barbie dolls, and eating chocolate. On the morning of April 19, 1995, her grandparents took little Ashley along on their errands. Unfortunately, her granddad's 9:00 a.m. Social Security appointment was in the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, and this was the very morning when Timothy McVeigh's bomb would change the building into a seething bloody inferno. Only days later did Kathleen Eckles Treanor learn for certain that her darling daughter was among the dead. Treanor responded to this heart-slicing tragedy with an energy that she herself could scarcely understand. Since that path-altering day, she has spoken with hundreds of interviewers, given dozens of public talks on loss, and tended to a garden that keeps the memory of Ashley blooming. In the wake of the torment of September 11th, these reflections seem only more apt and more needed.
