About the Author

Michael Freeman began his full-time photographic career in 1973. He has photographed extensively in Asia, both for magazines such as Smithsonian, GEO and Conde Nast Traveler, and for numerous books. Among these are Sacred Places of the East, Sudan: The Land and the People, Things Thai, Things Japanese, Japan Modern, The Modern Japanese Garden and China Style. His other works include books on Frank Lloyd Wright, Shakers, Adobe and twentieth-century American architecture. His photography is widely published internationally.
