I still have my original copies of Asimov's when the magazine made its first debut. Every issue I've read over the last 30 years contained exceptional short stories. I don't recall ever reading one where I was dissatisfied after putting it down. Not every story is a Hugo-winner, but Asimov's certainly has its share of Hugo and Nebula award winning short stories. All up and coming science fiction authors aspire to get accepted to this magazine. By analyzing what was accepted, authors can hone their craft to the point of getting picked up for an issue. Personally, I've found Asimov's to be more character-centric, while Analog tended to be more hard sci-fi. I enjoy reading more about how events and environments impact characters, and how they change over the story. I highly recommend this magazine.

If you like reading short stories that are conversation worthy then this is the magazine for you.

The editors don't understand the difference between fiction, fantasy fiction, and science fiction. The subscription contains too many failed attempts at books in the form of novella, which are often a waste of the readers time. I wish they would stick to short stories. Isaac Asimov wrote hard science fiction. This magazine is nothing like him and should have the name of a weak sloppy writer like Mercedes Lackey. Your money would be better spent on Analog. They have some of the same problems but the hard science section makes up for a lot of sins.

I subscribed last year to catch up on short fiction. But the Nook edition of Asimov's magazine is so badly formatted it's painful to read. Switching to print edition this year.

I've read Asimov's and Analog for thirty years. What happened? Analog was always better. Now, for the past year Asimov's has become Analog. Better Science Fiction! Analog has become gob belly gook. Thank you for continuing the excellence of Analog...though you are now Asimov's.
