Overview

Kit Masters, born and brought up on an Aspen ranch, left to pursue an acting career in Hollywood but she is a woman with a strong sense of family, loyalty, and integrity and had deep ties to the land where she grew up. After ten years, she returns home to settle her father's estate and realizes she must choose between her career and Tom Bannon, a man she has not seen for ten years, the man who broke her heart by marrying someone else—the man she still loves. Kit has gotten a golden opportunity, the lead role in a movie opposite famous actor-producer-and legendary seducer—John Travis. The movie will be filming in Aspen. She meets Bannon again, and they rediscover their romance, though she is still feeling the pain of his betrayal and he is haunted by the memory of his dead wife--and John Travis has begun to pursue Kit, ardently.

The author of Rivals and Heiress dazzles again with a contemporary story of a woman torn between love and fame. Talented actress Kit Masters returns home to settle her father's estate and realizes she must choose between her career and a man she has not seen for ten years--the man she still loves. Teaser chapter of Dailey's forthcoming hardcover, Tangled Vines.

    Aspen's Fire---Chapter One

Aspenkit played with her ster, Mintkit. They were both healthy five moon old kits waiting to be apprenticed. That's hen they heard Suneyes, there mother, mew, "You two will be the greatest warriors ever!" Before she broke out in a fit of coughing. Midnight, the medicine cat, quickly checked her. Mintkit looked uncomfortable.
"What's wrong?" Aspenkit asked curiously. "Well....I wanna be a Medicine Cat."
She felt her fur bristle. "What?! A cat with stinky patients and wierdo herbs and no fighting or hunting?!" "Yeah!" Mintkit yelped, her violet eyes shining. "You fight for your clanmates lives in health! Can't you see how I'd speak to StarClan!" Aspenkit sighed. "You belong in the Warriors Den, next to me! Not some crabby old Medicine place!"
"Sure!" Mintkit sid brightly, not listening to her sister at all. Aspenkit sighed. They were both healthy kits. Apenkit was a russet furred she kit with white paws, a white underbelly, and a white tipped tail. Mintkit was a grey he cat with russet splotches and they both had viooet eyes. Why would she wanna be a Medicine Cat?
