Editorial Reviews

Kenneth M. Arndt
"Without question, Reeves indeed provides readers withinsight in evaluating performance for improved individual and organizational results. The book makes a distinct contribution to the field of education."
Rene S. Townsend
"The book is a great contribution on a very critical topic. It provides an excellent guide for developing a system and having important conversations with the leadership team."
Principal Navigator
Praise for the First Edition:
“This book touches on critical aspects of motivating your staff. Standards-based and truthful characteristics are employed to make it even more worthwhile.”
Terry Thompson
This is precisely what we need to get us to the next level of student success through better leadership.
Vincent Ferrandino
At a time when school leadership is central to the success of students, Reeves offers a comprehensive means to measure the critical elements of effective school leadership.
Gerald N. Tirozzi
Research studies increasingly support the significant impact that effective leaders have on school performance. A skilled leader is an essential component in successful school reform. This book makes a compelling case for transforming leadership evaluation from perfunctory to a focus on performance, reflection, and results.
Mike Schmoker
Doug Reeves' Assessing Student Leaders is a practical, compelling tour de force. If you ever had doubts (as I confess I did) that assessing leaders could have a powerful influence on school quality, think again. This is one of the most important books I have read in some time.
William Harbermehl
Assessing Educational Leaders boldly addresses sensitive issues and, more important, provides innovative ideas and solutions.
Chris Wright
Assessing Educational Leaders will be a valuable tool for superintendents, school boards, and other school leaders who are interested in taking the next step toward ensuring high performance for all students, all schools, and entire systems.
Anne L. Bryant
Assessing Educational Leaders provides a fresh, new approach that can help those responsible for assuring high quality schools. The evaluation model presented does more than ‘weigh and measure.’ It provides a framework for true leadership development.
