Liana Lowenstein's books are packed with engaging and innovative techniques for use with children, teens and families. This book taps into the wealth of other therapists as well and offers a variety of interventions from therapists working with children, youth, and families. It is packed full of creative interventions and will be a valuable resource for your practice. ~Sueann Kenney-Noziska, MSW, LICW, LCSW, RPT-S/Play Therapy Corner, Inc.
This was the first book I chose to purchase when I began working with clients. I thought it might be a nice back-up when I was feeling stuck with clients. Little did I realize how frequently I would use this book as a "go-to" resource in my work with children, adults, and families! The activities aimed at expressing feelings are invaluable, particularly when working with young children who have a limited feelings vocabulary. I've found that the social skills activities are especially useful with anxious youth who struggle to interact effectively with their peers, and I've been able to alter the group activities to use in individual work as well. I find myself referring colleagues to this book all the time and believe it is a "must-have" for any clinicians, whether they are new to the field or veterans looking for new, refreshing techniques to liven up their therapy sessions!
This book is a wonderful collection of so many ideas, techinques and creative ways to work with clients with a wide range of issues. This is a must have for any therapist working with children and teens!!
I am a clinician and have been in the field for more than 20 years. This book has excellent interventions to use with children and families. I have asked permission and received it from Ms. Lowenstein to share an intervention from this book when I was teaching a training on family therapy for other clinicians. I have many of the intervention books, and would highly recommend them to new and seasoned clinicians. The books inspire creativity in sessions and illicit new ways to gather important information for treatment.
A great book for use in clinical work with children and families. Great ideas, activities and worksheets. Easy to implement and adapt as well.
