Overview

Astral Liaisons is the second collection of eight short stories from lesbian author and sex-advice columnist Cassandra Duffy. Using a 1950’s pulp comic book motif, the eight erotic romance short stories take part in the rich science fiction tradition of space adventure, time travel, alien invasions, alien abductions, and inter-dimensional exploration. Cassandra has upped the naughty, kinkier side of her stories, represented by her alter-ego Lizzy Dark, including new toys, group sex, and BDSM while keeping the steamy side of her softer sweeter stories represented in the sun sections of the Day Moon Press release.

Each story includes an original art piece created by emerging graphic design artist Katiie♥Kissglosse. The cover was created in a combined effort between Katiie and the author.

Cassandra Duffy aka Lizzy Dark encompasses the full experience of living and loving as a lesbian while adding playful humor and some Easter Eggs from classic science fiction, biology, and pop culture set against the backdrop of a sexually rich science fiction setting.

Meet the Author

Cassandra Duffy spent most of her childhood being precocious, which stopped being entertaining or impressive when she grew into an adult, at which point she had to start being precious. After being an outcast child prodigy it was no surprise when she graduated from one of the many fine University of California schools a year early to follow her girlfriend in a cross country move.

She writes a free-lance sex advice column found in various lesbian magazines and dating websites. Her short story collections and novels can be found on her website at

Two of her greatest prides are being a true California girl and author of some truly naughty things. She is a dutiful partially-Asian daughter who is beloved by her fairly traditional Korean father who thinks having a gay daughter is just fine as long as she keeps playing coed flag football. She is a stereotypical younger sister, and an adoring aunt of a hilarious little boy. Being a modern techno-freak, gamer-girl, she spent most of her childhood dreaming of being a video game designer, but changed her mind and brought her dreams of world building and story-weaving to writing unique romance novels.

Cassandra is a gleefully monogamous girlfriend to an earthbound goddess who was once her high school bully, but has done a magnificent job of making up for all the school girl nastiness ever since. When she isn’t being an avid fang girl (vampire fan girl) or tormenting people in online gaming, she lives and writes in Winter Park, Florida with her partner and soul mate Nichole and their two cats: Dragon and Josephine.

    I Also Recommend:

    Quirky! Creative! Fun!

If I were more into pulp science fiction and comic books, I'm sure I would have gotten much more out of this read than I did; if you're a fan of either genre, it'll be right up your alley. Even as just lesbian erotica though, this is much deeper, richer, and funnier than the average collection.

The graphic design illustrations (becoming pretty common place from what I've seen) added by Katiie, I think it's spelled that way on purpose, really gave a nice visual element to each story and supported the vivid descriptions in a complimentary way.

This is anything but straightforward, cookie-cutter lesbian erotica. The stories are far more interesting, creative, and complex than one might expect from the genre.

One minor complaint: the book doesn't take full advantage of everything it could on my Nook color, but that's pretty minor considering it's not actually supposed to be a color comic book.

    Team Captain Val!

I loved "Of Pirates and Politicians"!!! Captain Val is awesome! The characters are all so vivid, and real, and sweet, and interesting, and hot. I actually got sad when I ran out of Captain Val story to read about. I also liked the cover and the pictures inside.

    Sapphic Space Adventure

Take classic pulp science fiction, add some modern touches, liberal amounts of humor, smoking hot sex scenes, and make all the major characters female and you get this book. I found myself laughing out loud at times and tingling with excitement, often at the same time. This is pure fun!

I didn't catch as many of the mentioned "easter eggs" as I thought I would. There was some stuff from the Hitchhiker's guide series that I spotted, but the rest might be for savvier or younger readers to find. The ones I did find had a satisfying, inside-joke feel to them as though the author was sharing a knowing wink with me.

The forward mentioned that one of my favorite stories in the collection would be turned into a novel. I looked around, but I couldn't find a release date on it. If anyone knows when it might come out, I could use some info.

    Illustrations Make it Great!

I loved the cover, loved the interior graphic design artwork, and every story was as much sexy fun as I've come to expect from this author!
