Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
Originally written in 1982, this edition has been revised to include the international space station updates about additional planetary exploration. The book opens with a good explanation of night and day and the reason for seasons on the earth. There is a section that discusses the different types of telescopes and the probes that have been launched into space. A major portion of the book is devoted to the sun and planets of our solar system and various other phenomena that we see, such as comets and meteors. The last part of the book is for the stargazers. It contains information about the major constellations and has pages with star charts for each of the seasons. An inexpensive purchase to gets kids launched into astronomy. Part of "The Random House Library of Knowledge" series.
