    FIVE STAR 'BELL' RINGER!

Bell, all by himself, sends me into euphonious heaven, but with "FRIENDS" he has me soaring beyond the sun, moon, planets and stars! Who, but such a musical genius, would ever think of combining such unlikely genres with the type of music he excels in, to create such beautiful, soul enriching sounds! I love them all, but I think MY favorite is: "My Funny Valentine". (Sigh)

    Major disappointment

Dreadful--this CD has no continuity and the music for violin "accompaniment" are poor. I didn't buy this to hear Joshua Bell as an accompanist...I wouldn't even give this one away.

Joshua Bell At Home With Friends

Tavis Smiley recommended this CD as he interviewed Joshua Bell on his talk show. I ordered it that same evening. It is a great album!

Exceptional selections, musicians and sound quality.

One of the finest and most enjoyed albums I have ever purchased - the violin performances are beyond belief - the sound quality is superb. The combination of musicians are creative and unique. The violin of Joshua Bell reaches in and tugs at your heart strings!

    Wonderful

This CD can set the mood in a second. Great for a relaxing evening with friends or alone to unwind after a hard week. I can hear this playing in the background of a dinner party as your friends are at home with you! Its great to hear two of my favorites, STING and Josh Groban, on songs with Joshua Bell. This is definitely an album to add to your collection.

    Interesting and Relaxing

I picked up this cd as I thought the track list was intriguing. I found the songs to be relaxing and I can imagine sitting in front of a fire with a glass of wine while this cd is playing.

    I Also Recommend:

    Relaxing, eclectic mix of music

An eclectic compilation featuring several different performers like Josh Groban, Anoushka Shankar, and Sting all performing separate pieces with the very talented violinist Joshua Bell. The inspiration behind At Home With Friends comes from Bell's own experience with home musicales, informal evenings when he gathers together with family or friends and plays all kinds of music along with his guests. Each track on the CD is as different as each of the performers, and the result reminds me of a crazy quilt of classical, jazz, pop and more. The patchwork of several different musical styles all blends together in a creative, free-flowing way to form an unusual but exquisite product.

The first track on the CD, "I Loves You Porgy" featuring Chris Botti, is my personal favorite. The trumpet, violin and piano combine together in this reflective, soft, jazzy melody. Frankie Moreno's version of the Beatle's "Eleanor Rigby" caught my attention and intrigued me. Anoushka Shankar's expressive sitar piece "Variant Moods" is full of rhythm and is simply mesmerizing. This CD will remain in my CD player for those times when I desire a relaxing, lyrical mix of music.

I really liked the musical sounds, but not the singing!

I really liked this CD's musical sounds, but I didn't care for the singing. I was actually quite disappointed with this CD. I am always looking for a CD that has calming music that I play while bathing to wind down at the end of the day and I would have to skip through songs on this CD.which would ruin my bath experience.

    At Home With Josua Bell

At Home with Friends, reveals Joshua Bell's astounding talent on the violin and the people he joins up with on this album have certainly put together quite a song list of soothing music that will help ease the stresses of day-to-day life. It's a great CD to unwind with. I must say that I'm quite impressed with the friends that Joshua has teamed up with in this album. He's got such a variety of those performing with him. To say the least, I think that this is one amazing album if this is your style of music. He's a very talented individual.

Prior to listening to this CD I didn't know who Joshua Bell even was. I'm quite impressed to.

At Home with Friends, reveals Joshua Bell's astounding talent on the violin and the "friends" he surrounds himself with on this album create a play list of beautiful, harmonious music that will calm and soothe even the most stressful day.

    Unique violin !!!

At Home with Joshua Bell CD is a great exhibit of his talent with the violin. He celebrates great friendships and talents in his Manhattan Home. There is a big variance in musical styles, his music it's nothing like you ever heard before. Great for entertainment in home and for the holidays too. You don't have to love classical music to enjoy At Home With Friends. Featuring the beautiful work of Joshua Bell and other artists, this CD features a nice blend of genres, including pop, jazz, and opera.

    Calm in our chaos

This is the first time I have owned a Joshua Bell cd and I truly love its soothing qualities. What a talented man! I love the personalized story inside and can almost imagine sitting among his friends during one of his gatherings. How lucky his friends are!

A Great Date w/ Some Amazing Friends!

What an ideal 'staycation'! I think being at home with Joshua Bell and his music is ideal! And even better to be with his friends! .On this recording, friends performing with Joshua Bell include Chris Botti, Sting, Carel Kraayenhof, Josh Groban, Edgar Meyer, Frankie Moreno, Nathan Gunn, Regina Spektor, Chris Thile, Anoushka Shankar, Marvin Hamlisch and even Sergei Rachmaninov by way of Zen Re-performance technology. There is nothing like the dulcet sound of a violin to relax you! In particular Josh Groban is an excellent companion for this instrument and of course Tiempo Libre who bring such verve to this albumn with unexpected Latin flare! If you love grown up music in a mature setting then this CD is for you!

    A Musical Masterpiece

Ok, I have a confession. Before listening to this new CD, I had not heard of Joshua Bell. No, I do not live under a rock . . . I just somehow missed hearing anything about him. This CD interested me because it had Kristin Chenoweth singing (most recently of Pushing Daisies fame).
This CD completely blew me away. I knew I would be impressed by the many vocalists, but even with the amazing voices of Kristin and Sting (just to mention a couple), the real star is clearly Joshua Bell. I would not classify myself as a huge fan of cliassical music, but this CD is AMAZING! I have recommended it to about 50 people already!
If you are in doubt, just listen to the samples . . . and you will be amazed too!

    I Also Recommend:

I wish these were my friends!

I was immediately taken by Joshua Bell's new album, "At Home With Friends". It's a beautiful record. I hadn't heard much about Joshua Bell before, but once I saw the lineup of talents that would be performing with him, I knew this was going to be something special.

Isn't it so impressive?! Josh Groban, Sting, Chris Botti, Regina Spektor, Kristen Chenowith, Marvin Hamlisch and the list goes on!

Joshua Bell is a Grammy Award-winning violinist and this album is a series of duets (both vocal and instrumental) with some of today's most talented players and singers. I was blown away by the beauty of this album and its diversity of styles. Just fabulous.

Believe me when I say, this is not an album exclusively for classical music fans. I do not classify myself as one who listens to much classical music, or violin music for that matter. I really loved this album and think it will appeal to a wide variety of tastes.

I especially love My Funny Valentine, I Loves You Porgy and Il Postino. But the whole album is gorgeous. I don't think there's a bad track on the whole album.

This album really feels like a night "At Home With Friends"...really talented, musical friends! Wouldn't it be lovely to have a life full of musical friends you could just call over for a night of music? Joshua Bell, in a way, gives us this opportunity. He really does take us to a place that feels like we're a part of the magic. It's wonderful.
