    Different than Radiance

Athenaeum's first album, Radiance, is my favorite album ever. Obviously, I had really high expectations for this album. At first I was torn. I wasn't sure what to think. I liked the music, but I couldn't decide if it lived up to expectations. I've owned the album for a month now and have listened to it 30 times or so. The conclusion? It is different than the original, and that's what threw me off at first. However, it is very good. Mark Kano's voice is unique, and, actually, quite awesome. All 10 of the songs are worthy of your time. The first track ''Suddenly'' is probably the best. ''Comfort'', the Cd's first single, is all right. Get the album if you like Vertical Horizon, Lifehouse, Tonic, Goo Goo Dolls, or similar artists. If this review didn't convince you to buy this album, be sure to at least pick up their old album, Radiance. There is no better album. I'm sorry, it's just the truth.

    moving into the spotlight

This transitional album from Athenaeum may originally shock long-time fans from the Southeast, but it is once agan ''essential'' listening. The poppy guitar hooks become overshadowed by the wonderful layering of sound and passionate vocals of matured diction. Track 6, ''Plurabelle,'' shows the growth of Athenaeum from their debut album ''Radiance'' and is just one of the fresh sounds that will hopefully catch on the current wave of radio airplay.
