Italian description: Un atlante della Firenze antica, con particolare riferimento alle principali scoperte archeologiche in area urbana e comunque entro i confini comunali della citta. Un'idea nata intorno alla fine degli anni '90, quando a causa di grandi lavori di ristrutturazione viaria e ferroviaria, ma anche di sostanziali modifiche al tessuto urbano, vennero alla luce rilevanti ed estese testimonianze storiche riferibili sia al periodo Romano, Augusteo ed Imperiale, che al successivo Alto e Medio Evo. Il volume raccoglie, se pur in estrema ma corretta sintesi, una notevole mole di dati scientifici preziosissimi, scaturiti da anni di lavoro spesso molto lento e complesso a causa degli evidenti problemi di attivita di scavo in ambito urbano, in un linguaggio divulgativo comprensibile alla maggioranza dei fruitori. Attraverso schede di sintesi e un sostanziale proficuo supporto fatto di ricostruzioni virtuali di alto rigore scientifico presenti sia nel volume che nell'allegato DVD, e ripercorso un viaggio a ritroso nel tempo, non fermandosi alla grandiosa e splendida realta del Rinascimento fiorentino e del tardo Medioevo, ma proseguendo nei secoli, fino all'eta romana e oltre, alla ricerca delle vere e piu antiche origini della citta e dei dintorni.
