Purpose: This book is conceived and written to address and help elucidate the surgical area of dentistry. I believe the objectives are worthy, and that they have been met.
Audience: This book will be useful not only to dental students but also to practicing general dentists and surgical specialists. The authors are credible authorities; their educational backgrounds are sufficient to address the topics.
Features: This book is written in a simple yet thorough manner that provides the proper information to the audience. It covers information from simple to complex exodontia, infections, and treatment with medications and surgical procedures. Implants, prosthetic procedures, and trauma and pathology are also covered. The tables are clear and thorough. A very informative addition to the book is the appendix that covers essential aspects of dentistry. Included are illustrations that are drawn; pictures would have been nicer.
Assessment: This is a thorough and complete reference dealing with a wide range of oral surgery topics that are important to all dental care providers. The dental-medical aspect of dentistry is also addressed. This book provides information through easy to understand charts and figures.
