Atlas of World Military Historyby Richard Brooks (Editor)
Since the first nation states established armies, the theory and practice of war has evolved at different speeds at different times and of different continents. Changes in military techniques have built and toppled empires: conversely, political upheavals from the fall of Rome to the French revolution have changed the way nations go to war. Each chapter of The Atlas of World Military History is devoted to a discrete period of military history.

I thought this book was fabulous. It is very detailed, and every major battle I have heard of (I am a history junky) and some that I have heard of. I liked how they showed the movements of the armies it help you recreate batle in your head. I think if anyone is taking a history class or just wants to more about history this would be a good book to get.
