"I look for beautiful use of language - no cliches, no shallow metaphors, but writing that uses language in a moving and innovative way. . . . [Some writers have] moved me to tears simply through use of language. Luke Hartwell can do it too." - Lichen Craig, author of Gentlemen's Game

Go Reviews - Marcus Parr
"One of the best novels I have read in a long, long time--completely original, no formulas, no cliches. John, the narrator, goes into the heart of darkness and emerges from the other side a heart-breakingly loving man. I think this book just might be genius."

"John is a wonderfully drawn character, incredibly arrogant and conceited yet vulnerable and broken, too. . . . the best drawn psychological growth I've read in a while. Done particularly well are the moments where John denies something . . . and despite the fact that our only input is John's narration itself, we know he's lying to himself and to us. We can see the truth through his clouded eyes, and that's quite a feat for a writer to do well."

Quite a ride, no pun intended. Graphic but not vulgar. Youthful sexual zeal meet genuine friendship and love. What a great combination.

The most unusual gay novel and the most unusual coming of age novel I've read in years. I loved it.
