This Nook version has a glitch in the text size function so that you cannot expand all of the text. Just the initial quote at the beginning of the chapter expands while the main body of the text does not. Otherwise this New Thought classic has good parts and bad parts. Because of the time of writing of some of the essays, Filmore includes in a positive way various ideas that are long-since dated and now considered immoral, such as eugenics and the belief in the cultural superiority of the European races. I was dismayed to read proeugenics statements in one of his essays, but have decided to put it in context that he was exploring the ideas of his time. The same for certain culturally arrogant statements about European superiority. Time ultimately showed the rotten fruits of such ideas. Because the essays were written in the 1920's 30's and 40's you can see the growth of his thought over time, influenced by world events and scientific discoveries and innovations. Not the best of his books, it is still an interesting and educational read.
