This book helped me change my life

I picked this book up on a sale at my church and thought maybe someday I'd get around to reading it. My life was confusing and falling apart. This book helped me to see that I was suffering from pains in my past that were beneath the surface. It helped me to realize that I needed to trust God to help me face and deal with the issues. Once I faced the past I was able to look at the future through more optimistic eyes and see that I alone was holding myself back. I am thankful for this book and recommend it to anyone who is feeling overwhelmed with relationship troubles or just feels like they don't understand there own feelings...

An Enlightening Book about Your Relationships with Others and Yourself

Clinton and Sibcy have done an outstanding job of describing what goes wrong with people's ability to establish and maintain relationship of all kinds. As the authors describe it, the ability to attach to others in a healthy way is connected to a child's earliest relationship. Children can learn patterns that help them to survive in their world as they are growing up, but these patterns may be self-defeating as those individuals mature. The authors describe healthy and unhealthy attachments, how they are formed, and why unhealthy patterns are destructive. The last 20 pages of the book are devoted to a description of how to change unhealthy patterns. This is truly a self-help prescription. Its weakness is in the inability of individuals to see their own unhealthy patterns and think their way out of them. Clinton and Sibcy neglected to mention the necessity of a coach and a support group, without which most people could not change on their own. I highly recommend the book. It does describe what goes wrong with families and human relationships, and it explains the major reason American divorce rates are so high. As a way of understanding relationship problems, it is a great beginning. I wish the authors had said more about the relational cure for relational problems. It would be a great topic for their next book. As it is, the book could be a huge step for the reader's self-understanding, and understanding is always the first step toward change. Buy the book, and don't despise the day of small beginnings.

    Attachments is a MUST READ!!!

Attachments is a wonderful tool for anyone and everyone who is planning on getting married. I recommend that everyone whether you're getting married or not because this book will help you find out who you are and not only that but it will also help you figure out how you react in different types of relationships. It will prepare you for marriage and parenting as well. It has helped me realize the things that I experienced as a child, really did have an effect on my life as I am now. It will do the same for you. And, once you finish the journey through Attachments, you'll come out with the most understanding you have ever had about yourself and even others. If you have troubles in relationships, this is your book! If you've had troubles in your relationship with God, it will help you realize what things you need to do in order to become closer to Him. READ IT, IT WILL DRASTICALLY CHANGE YOUR OUTLOOK ON LIFE.
