Cumbersome language at times , which is why I gave it only four stars...however it was worth the read.

Having read a number of Thomas Troward's lectures and books it was refreshing to read Genevieve Behrend's little book reflecting her impressions and experience of her intimate knowledge of the thoughts and concepts of Dr Troward's understanding of what is called "mental science". Having been his only student and having enjoyed close personal contact with him in his home and also at her residence, she gained an up close sense of the man and the truths he sought to share. She gives us a look at his life and it's unfoldment and his venture into the lecture halls and the eventual publishing of his thoughts for a broader audience to read. She chooses a format for discussion based on the exchange between a "Sage" and "Pupil" Troward being the Sage and herself being the pupil. She poses the questions and he answers them. The interaction between the two takes the reader through Dr. Troward primary premises in his basic thoughts regarding the proper use of the mind to attain one's desires. He speaks of the higher intelligence, the concept of oneness with it, and the use of the subconsious mind, and other similiar ideas. It is of particular interest that Mrs Behrend quotes Troward as saying regarding supply and demand, "eventually you will have to come back to the teaching of Jesus,"ask and ye shall receive". "We may write volumes on the subject, but in the end it always comes to this and we have gained nothing by going the long way around. I am coming more and more to see that the teaching of Jesus is the final embodiment of all that writers on those subjects are trying to teach". He further says, " all the bible premises are based on the knowledge of your mental constitution",pg 49. There are other references to the scriptures as Troward tries to point out that the foundation for the truths he was seeking to share find their basis in the Fountainhead of the scriptures.
