A Guidebook & Discussion for Worship Leaders, Music Directors & Pastors Let’s face it – the quality of music in the church often pales in comparison with the quality offered by the world. And yet, our message is so much more important! How can the church compete with the quality the world offers if we don’t make the pursuit of quality a priority in our music ministries? This is a thorough discussion of how to build a music program that attracts quality musicians and inspires inexperienced players to greater musical standards. • How do you define and identify a quality musician? • What drives quality musicians and what can I do to attract them into my ministry? • Can (or should) we ever pay musicians? • Can non-believers ever be invited to participate? • Once they’re in, how do we keep them, lead them, and affect their lives for eternity? Includes interviews and comments from noted experts in contemporary music ministry.

Editorial Reviews

Jeremy Armstrong
Guerrero boldly covers a good deal of controversial territory, from the spirituality of potential non-Christian players to contemplating the significance (or insignificance) of having quality musicians onstage and what that does (or does not do) for a worshipping community.Pick up this book for the worship leader looking to better their musical service to God, with the musicians they have or the musicians they are looking to sign up.
Kim Gentes
...both enjoyable and well balanced...It is well-paced and invitational in its approach, leaving you feeling like you sat down and had a chat with Tony (ok, maybe several chats) about the topics covered. He clearly leaves you to make your own conclusions on how to approach church music, while presenting a fairly concise manual for the proven method they are employing in the ministry at Saddleback church. It is an important, well-thought, contribution to church music leaders everywhere.

This book is short, simple, and to the point. I highly recommend

This book is short, simple, and to the point. I highly recommend it for people involved in music ministry who want to improve on quality and professionalism. Bottom line: What you put out is what you attract. If you have subpar singers and musicians, then you’ll only attract more of them because the skilled and experienced ones will have no interest in getting involved. When you put out quality, you’ll attract quality.
