Audubon Society Attracting Birds

Audubon Society Attracting Birds

by Stephen W. Kress

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal - Library Journal
Kress, an Audubon Society biologist, wrote the excellent Audubon Society Handbook for Birders ( LJ 4/1/81). His new guide is equally fine. Books on birdhouses and feeders abound. While Kress does devote some 100 well written and illustrated pages to these, his approach is much more conceptual and comprehensive, encompassing proven wildlife management principles. He has sections on landscaping, selecting plants, pools and ponds, nesting structures, and references. The chapters on plants are especially good, with fine illustrations and a section on each major area of the United States. Appendixes detail agencies and organizations, state nurseries, and sources for plants and supplies. Accurate throughout, well referenced and abundantly illustrated, this is one of the most attractive and authoritative books ever on attracting birds. Henry T. Armistead, Thomas Jefferson Univ. Lib., Philadelphia
