Vegas, Vicious Exes, and Ventilators.

My life felt like a fast ride on a too short highway. Coming home should be roses and rainbows, but nothing that comes out of the desert blooms free. I was most certainly not free. My life felt like a fast ride on a too short highway. Coming home should be roses and rainbows, but nothing that comes out of the desert blooms free. I was most certainly not free. I'd missed my payment to Blaine, owed the last client a hundred grand I didn't have, and my father was on his deathbed. To make matters worse, Wes was missing in action. As in, no one had seen or heard from him in three weeks. Devastation didn't begin to explain where my mental state was at.

Like anything life had thrown my way, I pulled on my big girl panties, not the sexy lacy ones I enjoyed teasing my guy with, but the kind that said, "This ass means business."

I had no choice but to make the decision I made.

My ex, the man that ruined the concept of love for me, put my father in the hospital, was about to get everything he ever least that's what I led him to believe.
In the ninth book of the Calendar Girl serial, Mia rushes back home to Las Vegas, Nevada. Things have taken a turn for her father, putting her into debt up to her eyeballs.

I recently picked up January by Audrey Carlan, and found myself hooked on page one! I haven't been able to get lost in a story in a long time, and the calendar girl series quickly changed that! Mia is a great character... different than a lot of others that I've read. She's refreshing and after eight books, I'm still hooked and can't wait to see how her journey ends. Another hot emotional read...

I've read all of Audrey Carlan's books and as a rule, take the day off so that I can devour them immediately. August was no different and absolutely did not disappoint!! I love Audrey's style of writing and as much as I hate waiting, I'm so thrilled to have four more books in the series to look forward to. This series is fun and sexy and I completely love Mia's story and her journey. Kudos! I never wish summer away, but I can't wait until September!

In August, Mia discovers so many things that rock her to the core. Things that will change Mia and Maddy's lives forever. She meets Max, who hires her to pretend to be his long lost sister. When they first meet, there is an instant bond and recognition that Mia just can't put her finger on. She wishes that the mirage that Max and her created is real, that they really are siblings. Her dreams tell her so much, but they don't make any sense until the truth is revealed. In August, Mia gains so much more than she ever expected. We see a very vulnerable side of Mia. Excepting things that she had/has no control over. Loving fiercely and protecting those close to her. I just love the journey that Audrey Carlan has guided us through with Mia. So many emotions, many highs and lows in this Calendar Girl issue. Great job once again Audrey! I especially enjoyed cousin Sofia! We always need a villain in the family :)!

PEOPLE....I suggest you have a brand new box of tissues with you when you read Audrey Carlan's newest book AUGUST. Mia, after solidifying her relationship with Wes, is in Texas for her new assignment...and it's one she will never forget. Maxwell Cunningham needs Mia to play a role that will go deeper than her acting skills. It will bring her shock, anger, joy and tears..lots of it. And the ending???? Let's just say that September will now be known for more than just the beginning of school!!!

I had trouble with getting the correct book, however B&N has made this mistake not the author! Why give a bad review on a book that is not the correct one given and it was B&N's fault not the authors. I contacted the author on Facebook as B&N was not able to correct the issue. The author is working to get this problem fixed with B&N but B&N is taking their time in doing so. I blessed to get the chance to read the book and I have to say it was another fantastic read! If you get the wrong book don't give it a bad rating as that reflects on the author not on B&N who made the mistake!

I have bought into these characters and their story and their lives and I wait on pins and needles for the next words that this author writes just like everyone else!! This month is a true emotional roller coaster!! I just KNEW that I had the twist figured out and then another turn completely threw me for a loop! And the emotion... sitting at work (we own our own business so I can read between customers)bawling my eyes out and reading faster and faster to see where the story is going... what a fantastic journey!!

This book will grab hold and shake you like a rag doll. The twists and turns that Mia has to deal with in this Calendar Girl episode are heart wrenching and beautiful. It will make you stand up and realize how precious your family truly is. What a gifted writer.

I love how this series is like a soap opera with its story coming out every month. Just like the rest of the series this one picks up where it left off in July. Mia's ups and downs of trying to pay off her fathers debt is almost there and she is ready to finish what she has to do to get the job done. It left me desperate for more. September cant get here fast enough.

To summarize: this episode continues to shake things up and I am glad this series doesn't turn formulaic. I really enjoyed this episode with the plot twists and heartfelt scenes. Although I did think one of the plot twists was a bit predictable and I don't get why Mia didn't see it earlier and the others didn't reveal things earlier. This one ends on a sort of cliffhanger. There is a lot of focus on the characters and emotional side of things. We see how Mia her decisions in July impacts things and it all made this book into and interesting read. And we meet some new characters and I liked seeing Mia interact with them. Looking forward to see how this impacts things in the rest of the series!

Mia is sent to Dallas, Texas this month, she is pretending to be the long lost sister of cowboy oil tycoon Maxwell Cunningham. Mia and the sister share a name and birthday. There are lots of surprises some good, some better than good and one not so good! READ TO FIND OUT!!!! Each month is a new location and a new client, for MATURE readers due to content
