About the Author

Letitia B. Burton-or "B.B.," as her young readers call her-believes that one of the most important things that a parent can do is read to their child for at least thirty minutes a day. It was a practice that she started with her three children after receiving this wonderful advice from Blanche Mansfield, then head of the lower school at the Nightingale-Bamford School in New York City. It is through sharing these stories that parents and children can together travel to new and interesting worlds and develop shared compassion for the characters. Letitia continued to read to each of her children daily until they fired her, one by one, at some point when they were in middle school. She lives in Southport, Connecticut, with her husband, three children, their two bunnies, two chickens, and beloved yellow lab Shesky, whom she now reads to.

Caitlin lives in Bendigo, Australia, with her partner Sue and their busy German Shorthair Pointer Ripley who keeps her company in her home office. Caitlin has been drawing since the moment she could hold a pencil and has always gravitated towards drawing animals. As a child, she adored the illustrations of Maurice Sendak, Murray Ball, and Charles M. Schulz. She would tirelessly copy artwork from her dad's collections of Peanuts and Footrot Flats and would eventually create her own characters and scenarios, filling countless sketchbooks. Today, she is kept busy with illustrating books geared toward young readers. This is Caitlin and Letitia's third project together, having worked together on Soar: The Incredible Journey of Hendrix and Ryder as well as Guthrie and Gretzky.

Daphne Schuller was born in France to French parents, but grew up in the Caribbean and United States. As a polyglot "third culture kid," she loves the idea of a children's book aimed at helping bridge language gaps. She can't wait to read Austin in both French and English to Alma, her baby daughter.
