Overview

* Features over 100 color photographs

The bioregion of Australia, New Zealand, Antarctica and New Guinea possesses a unique natural heritage stretching back over the fifty million years since the break-up of the great southern continent of Gondwanaland. ANZANG Nature is an organization whose focus is enhancing a general awareness of this extraordinary legacy by encouraging photography of the region's nature and wilderness and promoting an annual competition to find the Nature and Landscape photographer of the year.

This superb Fifth Collection presents more than 100 of the finest photographs submitted to the 2008 competition. Each photograph is accompanied by technical information as well as anecdotes about how the picture was taken, which will stimulate yet further interest in the flora and fauna and their conservation in the region.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
"Australasian Nature Photography: Anzang Fifth Collection showcases the best of the best in the fith anual Anzang nature photography contest. Most of the images are in stunning full color, except for one selection specifically for black-and-white contest entries. The pictures range from a threatened New Zealand falcon warming her chick in the nest, to ants communicating, to seal pups taking a break during play, marine life, dazzling landscapes, and even sad photos of the devastating consequences of mankind's impact on the natural world and its creatures. Each breaktaking image is accompanied by a brief caption by the photographer who captured it, often telling of the requisite hours, days or more setup time invested just to get close enough to photograph the often (but not always) reclusive wild creatures at the perfect moment. Highly recommended especially for nature and wildlife photography collections."

"ANZANG Nature has again combined with CSIRO PUBLISHING to produce this great book. Not just the quality of the reproductions but also the quality of the images are superb in every sense."
